My background and bachelor’s degree is in Transpersonal Psychology. After completing my program and graduating from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, I began my training as a doula and massage therapist in Austin. I am now a certified doula with DONA, or Doulas of North America.

I also received additional training from ALACE, or Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators.

I am a Registered Massage Therapist in Texas (MT022365) with additional training and certification in massage for the woman in the childbearing year.

The power of birth and the woman in the childbearing year is of great and special interest to me. I am profoundly amazed with this time in the life of a woman and her family. I have been working in this area for almost 8 years now and am always continuing to be delighted and satisfied with my work. I continue my education every year in a variety of says. Sometimes by attending DONA’s national conferences. These are wonderful, as I get to meet many of the people who write the books that we birth professionals read. I also enjoy attending local workshops and classes.

Since becoming a member of and Birthing From Within Mentor, I also attend various workshops with that organization. See: www.birthingfromwithin.com

I am also a member of APPPAH. I attended a fascinating conference in LA in early 2007. I plan on remaining an active member.

In 2008, I will begin a 2 year long course of study in Biodynamic Craniosacral Work. I am very excited to learn this exciting technique. Bodywork with mother’s and babies can deeply help the settling in of their nervous systems and alleviate many common ailments.

On a personal note, I am mommy to my little guru, Ezra Omani. In February of 2008 he’ll be 3 years old. My husband, Eric (www.ericbillig.com) and I look forward to expanding our family in the near future.
